FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Vertio?
Vertio is an AI-powered document translation platform, powered by M21Global. Upload your file, choose the language, and receive the translated and verified document in minutes, in the same format. The difference is simple: Vertio doesn't deliver "translated text". It delivers a verified document, ready to circulate without your team having to validate what they don't master.
Who is Vertio for?
For any company that needs to translate documents with quality, without the cost and time of a full human translation. If your team translates in an AI tool and asks someone to "have a look", Vertio replaces that entire process.
What changes compared to the usual process (copy-paste)?
In the usual process, someone copies text into a tool, pastes it back into the document, tries to recompose the formatting and ends up asking "can you check if this is right?" to someone who also can't confirm. In Vertio, the file goes in and comes out as a file: the engine translates and verifies automatically, and returns the document with the formatting intact. In minutes, without your team's involvement. The responsibility of verifying is no longer on your side.
What are the differences between service tiers?
Vertio offers 5 service tiers:
• Draft (€2/1,000 words): fast automatic translation. Ideal for drafts and internal communication.
• Normal (€9/1,000 words): translation with automatic verification. For everyday use: emails, reports, internal documentation, proposals.
• Plus (€9/1,000 words): everything from Normal + detailed quality report with per-segment scores, issue identification, and recommendations. Ideal for assessing whether you need human review.
• Human Translation (quote within 3 business hours): AI translation + review by a professional translator from the M21Global network. For important documents and demanding communication.
• ISO 17100 (on enquiry): translation and review by independent translators + ISO 17100 compliance certificate. For contracts, compliance, and documents with legal consequences.
Simple rule: for drafts → Draft. For daily use → Normal. To assess quality → Plus. For important documents → Human. For legal consequences → ISO 17100.
What is the difference between Draft and Normal?
Draft (€2/1,000 words) uses fast automatic translation. It is the most economical and fastest (1–3 minutes). Normal (€9/1,000 words) uses the proprietary engine with automatic verification — accuracy, consistency, and terminology are validated before delivery. For emails and internal documents, Draft is sufficient. For proposals, reports, and documentation, we recommend Normal.
What is the quality report (Plus)?
The quality report is an automatic translation analysis that shows: overall score (0–100), evaluation by category (terminology, fluency, accuracy, register, consistency), segments classified as OK/warning/critical, and improvement recommendations. The report helps decide whether the document is ready or would benefit from human review.
How does the quote request work?
For the Human Translation and ISO 17100 tiers, Vertio first runs the AI translation (including verification and quality report). Then it automatically sends the request to the M21Global team, who respond with a quote within up to 3 business hours (business days, Lisbon hours 09:00–18:00). The human translator works from the AI translation as a base.
Can I upgrade between tiers?
Yes. After translating a document, you can upgrade to a higher tier by paying only the difference. Example: translated with Normal (€9/1,000) and want the quality report, pay +€0/1,000 to upgrade to Plus. The upgrade is automatic and instant for self-service tiers. For Human Translation or ISO, a new quote will be requested.
What file formats are supported?
Word (.docx, .doc), PowerPoint (.pptx, .ppt), Text (.txt), JSON (.json) and Markdown (.md). The translated document is returned in the same format, with the original formatting preserved.
Is the formatting always preserved?
In the vast majority of documents, yes. Vertio preserves the file's structure and styles, including headings, lists, tables, headers, and text formatting. In documents with macros, dynamic fields, or very specific elements, there may be occasional differences.
Are my documents secure?
Documents are processed on servers with access controls. Files are used exclusively for the requested translation and are not used to train AI models. For specific compliance needs, we recommend the appropriate service tier and clarify the retention options.
When should I choose Certified Translation?
When the document has legal or regulatory consequences, or when you need ISO 17100 certification: contracts, compliance, official publications. In Vertio, select the ISO 17100 tier and you will receive a quote from the M21Global team. If the document is important but has no legal consequences, Human Translation may be the right choice (quote within 3 business hours, delivery in 1–2 business days).
How does payment work?
Prepaid credits. Top up your wallet with any amount (minimum €10, maximum €1,000), and use the balance over time. No subscription, no minimum per translation. Pay only for what you use. The balance is valid for 12 months from the last top-up.
What is the delivery time?
Draft: 1–3 minutes. Normal: 3–10 minutes. Plus: 5–15 minutes. Times for automatic tiers depend on the document size. Human Translation: 1–2 business days. ISO 17100: 2–3 business days.
Can I translate just a paragraph or a short email?
Yes. There is no minimum per translation. You can translate from an email of 100 words (€0.20 on Draft, €0.90 on Normal) to a manual of 20,000 words.
What languages are available?
Vertio supports 16 active languages: Portuguese (PT/BR), English (UK/US), Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Danish, Ukrainian, Romanian, Swedish and Finnish. The engine supports over 70 languages that will be activated progressively.
Who is behind Vertio?
Vertio is a product of M21Global (Multilingues21, Lda.), a Portuguese professional translation company with over 20 years of experience, ISO 17100 certification, and more than 300 million words translated. The same team that translates contracts, manuals, and reports for Portuguese companies built and maintains Vertio, with a clear objective: to remove from your team the responsibility of validating translations in languages they don't master.
Can I request a refund?
Credits in the wallet are non-refundable after use, as per the Terms of Service. However, unused balance remains available for 12 months. If you have a specific situation, contact us at hello@vertio.ai. We analyse on a case-by-case basis.
What if the translation has errors?
The Normal and Plus tiers undergo dual automatic AI verification before delivery, significantly reducing errors. Plus includes a quality report that identifies problematic segments. Even so, it is an automated service and may not be perfect. If you spot a problem, contact us at hello@vertio.ai. For documents where accuracy is critical, consider Human Translation or ISO 17100.
Can I see an example before paying?
Yes. Vertio offers a free preview so you can see a sample of the translation before confirming and paying. Upload the document, and the system shows an excerpt of the result before debiting credits from the wallet.
Does it work with PDFs?
Currently, Vertio does not support PDF files. For best results, upload the document in its original format (Word or PowerPoint). If you only have the PDF, you can convert it to .docx with Microsoft Word or online tools and then upload.
Is there a volume discount?
For regular volumes or large projects, contact us at hello@vertio.ai for special terms. The wallet system already offers flexibility, top up any amount (minimum €10, maximum €1,000) and use over time without pressure.
Can I use a VAT invoice for my company?
Yes. Vertio issues a VAT invoice for each wallet top-up. Invoices are issued automatically and are available in your account. You can add your company's VAT number during the payment process.
How do I know Vertio is actually better than ChatGPT or DeepL?
You don't have to take our word for it. Upload any document and use the free preview — no account required. Compare the result with what your current tool produces.
The difference isn't that our AI is smarter. It's that Vertio verifies before delivering. ChatGPT and DeepL translate once and stop. Vertio runs an automatic verification pass: discrepancies in terminology, phrasing, and meaning are identified and resolved before the file reaches you.
The proprietary engine is built on 20 years of professional translation experience and 300 million words translated by M21Global. It's not a wrapper around a public tool. If the preview doesn't convince you, don't pay. That's the point.
